Our projects

Through the collective support and generosity of the St. Michael’s College Alumni Association – UK (SMCBAA-UK), we are proud to have equipped our Alma Mater’s IT Laboratory with a total of 45 computers, representing a combined investment of approximately Rs. 12.20 million.

The project was delivered in two phases. Our first contribution provided the College with its initial set of computers, and this latest phase completed the laboratory bringing the total to 45 machines and creating a fully-equipped, modern learning space for students of every year group.

An up-to-date IT Laboratory is far more than a room full of computers. It is where our students learn to research, to create and to build the digital skills that are now essential in almost every field of work and study. For many Michaelites, this facility will be their first hands-on experience with technology that opens doors to further education and employment in Sri Lanka and around the world.

By investing in these facilities, SMCBAA-UK is helping to close the digital gap and give every student at St. Michael’s College National School, Batticaloa, a fair chance to reach their full potential.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Puvanasingam Vaseekaran for his generous support, which played a significant part in making this project possible.

Seeing the completed IT Laboratory filled with computers and ready for our students is a proud moment for every Michaelite in the United Kingdom.

This achievement belongs to all our members, supporters, well-wishers and everyone who contributed. Every donation, large or small, came together to make this possible and your continued generosity is what allows us to keep giving back.

Our commitment to our Alma Mater continues supporting education, creating opportunities and investing in the next generation of Michaelites. This laboratory is one milestone on a longer journey, and with your help there is much more still to come.

Together, we made it happen. Together, we continue to make a difference.

For our Alma Mater. For our students. For the future.

Alongside our infrastructure and development work, the current committee is equally committed to investing in the future of our students by continuing to support the Student Sponsorship programme.

The programme currently supports seven financially challenged students, helping them continue their educational journey while easing some of the financial pressures faced by them and their families.

We are particularly grateful to our committee members who have personally committed to giving back and supporting the next generation of Michaelites.

We sincerely thank the SMCBAA UK Committee for organising this valuable Student Awareness Programme in collaboration with INSIV Global, held at St. Michael’s National College.

The programme was conducted on a Friday afternoon, from approximately 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM, with around 60 students taking part. The session raised awareness about overseas higher education opportunities, the academic pathways available, and the importance of proper planning for future studies.

The programme was a great success, with students actively participating, asking questions and clarifying their doubts, helping them gain a greater understanding of overseas education opportunities.

The Annual Dinner & Dance brings Michaelites and friends together to celebrate our shared achievements, honour our members and supporters, and raise the funds that power our projects back home. At the 2026 event, we were proud to officially launch this new website and recognise the many people whose generosity keeps our work going.

Thanks to the support shown at evenings like this, the committee has been able to deliver the IT Laboratory, the Student Sponsorship programme and much more.
